Positive attitude and physically capable of mechanic work
Obtain and maintain a Commercials Driver’s License Class A or B with endorsements P & S within the first 3 months of employment
High School diploma required, Trade School Diploma or AAS degree preferred Knowledge of Bus/Truck mechanical operations required
Obtain and maintain DC DPI School Bus Inspection License within first year of employment Obtain and maintain NC DMV State Safety Inspection License within first year of employment
Experience in tire changing and maintenance
Must have strong diagnostic, technical and communication skills
Ability to gather and evaluate data and comprise repair plan Ability to assist in purchasing decisions for inventory needs
Ability to follow both oral and written instructions
Own and maintain tools necessary to perform daily duties
Ability to work in absence of supervision on an on-call basis Ability to perform a variety of welding and body work
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions at remote locations
Ability to lift approximately 80 pounds
Working knowledge of basic computer skills required for mechanical operation
Any other duties assigned by the Shop Supervisor or Transportation Director
